The book is written by multiple authors, one subject each. As a result, the book does not always proceed in a very logical order and the quality of the chapters is varying. J.A. Keuning (Delft University) gives a very good review of performance prediction of yachts. The structural design part is also quite good, but there are some chapters which are of very little use, for example the mathematical background to fairing of hull surfaces.
At the end of each chapter is a list of references, which is very helpful since the book is too short to go into very detailed explanations.
The book is not a tutorial on the subject of designing yachts. It is more like a set of articles regarding different aspects of yacht design. To get the most out of this book some basic knowledge of basic naval architecture is required.
