Editorial Review:
Product Description: This step-by-step guide to building a lashed-frame, fabriccovered sea kayak is both a means to a sleek, fast, universally admired boat and an excellent introduction to woodworking and boatbuilding for hobbyists. The Inuit design scales up or down to fit the paddler and can be built using $150 worth of hardware-store materials, a few basic tools, and a minimal investment of time. Also included: plans for a low-volume version designed for Eskimo rolling; an especially stable version for children; and discussions of kayaking equipment, paddling, and rolling techniques.

The book is very explicit for a reader with some background in carpentry, or fundamental knowlege of construction.
I was very happy with the information obtain from this book.

This is a good source of information if you are interested in building Greenland kayaks and their accessories without reading too much about boat history. It is also a good reference for anyone interested in traditional SOF boat building tools and techniques.

After doing quite a bit of research on the subject, I decided to buy this book and have found it invaluable. From selecting the wood to lashing it all together, Chris has filled the pages with very useful knowledge based upon experience. The book also explains how to make accessories for the kayak, such as a paddle, float bags, spray skirt and tuilik. I keep it on my night stand and read parts of it every night.

This book is an excellent companion to the Morris book on the same topic of Skin On Frame boatbuilding. Slightly different techniques and content.

I bought this book and then took a class with Brian Shulz of Cape Falcon Kayaks. Chris Cunningham says in this book that he built 7 kayaks (at least when he wrote this book), Brian has built several hundred, so this isn't quite a fair comparison. That being said, I found much of the information in this book either too terse to be useful or simply outdated.
